ABSTRACT
For Mahatma Gandhi, India's independence leader and advocate, diversity and inclusion were
fundamental to building a just and harmonious society. He dedicated his life to fighting for equality
and human rights, and his teachings and actions remain highly relevant today. He advocated for non-
violence and peaceful resistance as means to achieve social change. Gandhi firmly believed in the
equality of all human beings, regardless of race, religion, caste, or gender. For him, diversity was a
fundamental value of humanity and should never be a reason for discrimination or exclusion.
Regarding racial diversity, Gandhi opposed the caste system in India, which divided society into
hierarchical groups and discriminated against individuals based on their origin. He worked tirelessly
to unify different communities and promote interfaith and cultural harmony. In terms of inclusion,
Gandhi championed the active participation of all people in decision-making, political, and social
life. He empowered marginalized groups and ensured they had a voice and representation in society.
Additionally, he defended women’s rights, advocating for their participation in the struggle for
independence. In summary, from Mahatma Gandhi's perspective, diversity and inclusion are essential
values for building a just and peaceful society. He stood for the equality of all human beings,
regardless of racial origin, religion, caste, or gender. His legacy inspires us to promote diversity,
respect and value individual differences, and work together to create an inclusive world where all
people can live with dignity and equity.
